The available product range covers six CALB prismatic LFP models from 72Ah to 314Ah. Capacity is only the first filter: the final choice also depends on pack architecture, mechanical envelope, thermal design, duty cycle and project documentation.
1. Model range at a glance
All six models are nominal 3.2V prismatic LFP cells. The energy figures below are simple nameplate calculations, not measured usable energy. Published dimensions are suitable for early screening; final design should use a current controlled drawing with tolerances.

2. Start with the mechanical envelope and architecture
Capacity does not determine form factor. Even within the L173 family, the published thickness and height differ substantially across the 125Ah, 163Ah, 230Ah and 314Ah entries. They therefore lead to different row counts, compression structures, busbar geometry and cooling interfaces. A shared family prefix does not make the cells interchangeable: terminal details, mass, tolerances, safety features and drawing revision still need confirmation.
For a fixed pack voltage, the series count follows the operating-voltage requirement. Parallel count follows energy and current requirements. A higher-capacity cell can reduce the number of parallel units, but it also places more energy behind each cell position and may change serviceability, fault containment and procurement concentration. Those are system decisions, not cell-table decisions.
3. Compare performance only on equal conditions
The available references show cycle figures from 3,000 to 6,000, but the stated conditions are not identical. This is not an equal comparison unless charge and discharge rate, depth of discharge, endpoint, temperature, rest periods, compression and measurement method are the same. Ask for the complete test condition and representative curves rather than ranking by the largest cycle number.
CALB’s 2023 corporate announcement for a 314Ah storage cell cites manufacturer claims including 15,000 cycles, 96% energy conversion efficiency and no capacity degradation in the first 1,000 cycles. Those statements describe the product generation in that announcement. They should not automatically be assigned to the L173F314 reference until the exact model, generation and test basis are matched.
4. A practical screening route
Large stationary-storage projects usually begin by testing whether a high-capacity format reduces system complexity within the chosen rack and thermal architecture. Compact industrial or mobile applications may value envelope, mass distribution and configurability more than the lowest cell count. Existing product certification or a qualified enclosure can narrow the choice further because a cell change may trigger substantial revalidation.
- Freeze the required series voltage, usable energy and continuous/peak power.
- Check cell orientation, clearances, compression, terminal access and coolant path against a controlled drawing.
- Recalculate current per cell and heat generation for each parallel configuration.
- Request current datasheet, safety and transport documents for the exact model code.
- Sample and validate the selected lot before approving volume production.
5. What to reconfirm before quoting a model to a customer
At minimum, reconfirm availability, manufacturer part number, nominal and minimum capacity, voltage limits, current limits, temperature limits, dimensions with tolerances, terminal definition, mass, cycle-test conditions, storage conditions and warranty. Then match the transport-test summary and other requested certificates to that same identity.
A formal quotation should identify the selected model, current specification revision and any open technical assumption. This lets engineering and procurement confirm product fit before samples, validation and commercial approval.
